The 15-year-old killer of 38-year-old Israeli mother of six Dafna Meir, was reportedly influenced by messages inciting violence on official Palestinian Authority television.
In a statement yesterday, the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) said that the terrorist, Morad Bader Abdullah Adais, had watched “PA television, which presented Israel as a state that ‘kills Palestinian youths’”.
The statement continued: “Under the influence of the content he saw on television, the minor decided to carry out a stabbing attack in order to murder a Jewish person”.
Dafna Meir, a wife and mother of six, was murdered by Adais on 17th January 2016 in her home in Otniel, in front of her 17-year-old daughter. Meir wrestled with the terrorist, in doing so protecting three of her children who were in the house during the attack.
Official PA TV has on many occasions contained rhetoric encouraging children to use violence as a legitimate means to oppose Israel. Many of these instances have been in children’s TV shows with some even featuring poems and songs that incite violence.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “The terrorist who murdered Dafna Meir last week has admitted that the images he saw on Palestinian television motivated him to murder the Israeli mother of six”.
He added: “I demand that the international community stop its hypocrisy and do everything in its power to pressure the Palestinian Authority to stop its incitement against Israel”.
