Tensions have continued along the Gaza border as Hamas-organised mass protests occurred for a third week.
Hamas has called “March of Return” demonstrations, in which the terrorist group’s leaders say will aim to see the removal of the border and the ‘liberation of Palestine’.
The event will run until mid-May to coincide with both “Nakba Day” (a Palestinian day marking the displacement of Arabs after Israel’s establishment), and the repositioning of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Five large camps have been set up near the border from the northern to the southern Gaza Strip, where thousands of Palestinians have gathered.
32 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds injured by Israeli tear gas, rubber bullets and live fire, in response to attempts to breach the border fence and attack soldiers.
Hamas are reported to have offered financial incentives to those injured or killed in the protests, and the IDF has accused the terror organisation of using the protest as cover for planting explosives on the border fence, throwing firebombs at IDF soldiers, and attempting to infiltrate Israel’s border.
