Communities Secretary Rt. Hon. Robert Jenrick MP and Conservative Party Chairman Rt. Hon. Amanda Milling MP have sent Passover wishes to Jewish communities in the UK; “a Passover like none of us have known before”.

Cabinet Minister Robert Jenrick said that “throughout history, the Jewish community has proven to be one of the most resilient and adaptable of any people and will do so again”. He reflected on his own family’s plans for Seder night: “My family will be experimenting with our first Zoom Seder, using the marvels of modern technology to celebrate with relatives in the safety of our own homes”.

Mr Jenrick underlined: “We may not be physically together, but communities seem tighter than ever, and the importance of health, family and kindness ever more apparent”.

The Communities Secretary urged Jewish families to “stay at home, which will protect the NHS and save lives”. “Each of us has the power to protect others, but only if we adhere to these guidelines, however much it goes against our traditions on Passover”, he added.

Conservative Party Chairman Amanda Milling echoed these sentiments, stating that “for so many families across the UK, it will be difficult marking the beginning of Passover away from each other”.

The Cabinet Minister emphasised: “Although we must continue to remain apart, we can still come together and celebrate our faith”.

Number 10 Downing Street wished “everyone a happy Passover” and thanked the Jewish community for taking the necessary measures to protect the NHS and save lives: “In these difficult times, it may be challenging to celebrate without family and friends, but by staying home this Passover you’re protecting the NHS and you’re saving lives”.
