The Emirati APEX National Investment company signed a strategic commercial agreement with Israel’s Tera Group on Saturday to jointly research and develop technology in the fight against the Covid-19.
In appears to be the first commercial deal between the two countries since a historic normalisation agreement was announced last Thursday.
The deal “is considered the first business to inaugurate trade, economy and effective partnerships between the Emirati and Israeli business sectors, for the benefit of serving humanity by strengthening research and studies on the novel Coronavirus”, APEX’s chairman Khalifa Yousef Khoury said. The agreement was signed at a press conference in Abu Dhabi.
Delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will meet in the coming weeks to sign agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications and other issues, last Thursday’s joint statement said.
Arieli Capital, an investment firm that operates innovation centres in Israel and around the world, and a regional council in the Negev desert in Israel, also said they are in talks with officials in the UAE to promote desert agriculture projects.
