Prime Minister Boris Johnson, senior Conservatives, and diplomats have sent their Chanukah wishes to the Jewish community.
Prime Minister Johnson was pictured on Thursday lighting No 10 Downing Street’s chanukiah. He said on Twitter: “To Jewish people across our United Kingdom and all around the world – #ChanukahSameach!”
Conservative Candidate for Mayor of London, Shaun Bailey AM, posted a video message, where he said: “Celebrations this year will look a little different, but the Festival of Lights reminds us that hope can shine through even in the darkest of moments”.
Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick posted a picture on Twitter of himself with his children lighting their chanukiah, and said: “Wishing all our Jewish friends in the UK and around the world a happy first night of Hanukkah. Chag Sameach!”
Britain’s Ambassador to Israel, H.E. Neil Wigan posted a video message on Chanukah wishes in Hebrew.
