International Trade Minister Ranil Jayawardena asserted that “trade with Israel is going from strength to strength” during International Trade Oral Questions in the House of Commons this week.
It came in response to a question from Harrow East MP – and CFI Officer – Bob Blackman calling for “increasing trade with Israel, our good friend and partner”.
The Minister added that the UK is “robing and scoping for better and deeper trade relations, including a future revised trade agreement that will allow us to do much more in the years ahead”, including in the area of tech.
Negotiations between the UK and Israel for a free trade agreement are ongoing and are reportedly expected to intensify in the coming months. Trade between the UK and Israel has grown exponentially in recent years setting records and reached an estimated £5 billion in 2020, with growth in areas including pharmaceuticals and cars.
