Liz Truss and Yair Lapid agree to “expand regional cooperation”

2a88f33e-0b82-d3bf-36e4-5738d14b110bForeign Secretary Liz Truss praised Israel as a “close friend and ally” during a phone conversation with her Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid this week.

Discussing ways to “deepen our cooperation”, the UK Foreign Secretary committed to increasing trade and investment and the science and defence relationship. Israel’s Foreign Minister – and Alternate Prime Minister of Israel – reflected on a “warm and friendly conversation” during which he congratulated Liz Truss on her appointment and “agreed to explore opportunities for expanding regional cooperation”.

Mr Lapid also offered condolences on the murder of Sir David Amess. Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennet also gave “heartfelt condolences” this week following the death of Sir David Amess MP. He remembered him as a “true friend of the Jewish community and the State of Israel”.
