Conservative Friends of Israel is shocked and deeply saddened by the death of Sir David Amess MP. Sir David was a hugely popular and respected MP and a great friend of Israel – serving as a parliamentary officer of CFI in the 1990s.
Parliament will be a lesser place without him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. His memory should be for a blessing.
CFI Honorary President Lord Polak CBE paid tribute to Sir David, stating: “David was a true and beautiful man of faith – a devoted Catholic who showed great love for all religions. He loved visiting Israel and specifically Jerusalem. But I will never forget how he showed great leadership and tenacity in campaigning for the statue to be erected to Raoul Wallenberg in Marble Arch – a lasting legacy to David’s humanity. May his memory be for a blessing…”.
