CFI lunch with Ambassador H.E. Tzipi Hotovely

The Israeli Ambassador, H.E. Tzipi Hotovely, and over 25 Conservative MPs and Lords attended a CFI lunch in Parliament on Wednesday celebrating 76 years of Israel’s independence.

“We live in a different world”, acknowledged the Ambassador, thanking Conservative MPs for their support amid Hamas’ 7th October massacre.

Thanking Parliamentarians for visiting Israel to offer support and bear witness, she noted that that she had been to Israel on six occasions since 7 October, accompanying cabinet members on official visits. She praised the “deep and open dialogue, close co-operation, and intelligence” shared on those delegations.

The RAF’s assistance on 13-14 April against Iran is proof of the UK-Israel bilateral relationship and of the close co-operation between both countries, she noted. Hotovely shared her gratitude of UK support; including flying the Israeli flag from governmental buildings, lighting up Downing Street and Parliament in blue, and wearing dog tags in the Chamber calling for hostages to be released.

The Ambassador shared optimism for Israel’s 76th year, although there is “big sadness and frustration, and we are still praying for the release of hostages every day”.

A discussion was chaired by CFI Honorary President Lord Polak OBE, and CFI Parliamentary Chairman (Commons) Rt. Hon. Stephen Crabb MP gave a vote of thanks.

Parliamentarians’ questions were also answered by Israeli Deputy Ambassador Daniela Grudksy, with attendees including Welsh Secretary Rt. Hon. David Davies MP and former Cabinet Minister Rt. Hon. Dr Liam Fox MP.
