On Monday 13th July, over 85 MPs, peers and key supporters attended CFI’s farewell lunch and reception for Ambassador of Israel, H.E. Daniel Taub.
Among MPs to pay tribute to Ambassador Taub were Minister for the Middle East, Tobias Ellwood MP, Minister for Community and Social Care at the Department of Health, Rt. Hon. Alistair Burt MP, and CFI’s Parliamentary Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sir Eric Pickles MP. CFI Directors Hilda Worth, Andrew Heller and Stuart Polak CBE also gave speeches.
Former Minister for the Middle East, Rt. Hon. Alistair Burt MP gave a heartfelt speech in tribute to Ambassador Taub, expressing that “his total focus and concern was and is solely for the best interests, the safety, peace, security and prosperity of the people of Israel now and for the future. His Government could have no better advocate or servant”.
At the lunch, the Ambassador was presented with a letter from Prime Minister David Cameron who personally thanked him for his efforts to strengthen the relationship between the UK and Israel, and for his “crucial role in the shared democratic values that both of our countries hold dear”.
The letter went on to state: “You have been particularly effective at speaking the truth about war and peace, but also enterprise, liberty and prosperity, all part of the stories of both our countries.”
Ambassador Taub has served in his position for four years, and will return to Israel with his wife Zehava.
