On the back of the newly-signed Abraham Accords, an historic discussion between the Ambassadors of Israel, the UAE and Bahrain, was hosted on Wednesday in a Zoom webinar held by the Anglo-Israel Association.
Lord Bew, Chair of the Anglo-Israel Association, hosted the event, which he said was the “happiest of my chairmanship”, and the discussion was chaired by Conservative peer and journalist Lord Finkelstein OBE.
The event is one of Israeli Ambassador H.E. Tzipi Hotovely’s first public appearances since arriving in the UK.
All three Ambassadors highlighted the opportunities and many areas of cooperation including cybersecurity, water, education, artificial intelligence, medicine, health, travel, trade and culture.
Both the UAE’s Ambassador to the UK, H.E. Mansoor Abulhoul and Bahraini Ambassador to the UK, H.E. Sheikh Fawaz al-Khalifa, underlined their wish that the Abraham Accords should be “a warm peace”. Ambassador Abulhoul said: “We want a deep relationship covering all aspects of life”.
The call comes as an Israeli trade delegation visited Bahrain this week, and twice-weekly flights between the UAE and Israel begin next week.
On Twitter, CFI Parliamentary Chairman (Commons) Rt. Hon. Stephen Crabb MP said it was “wonderful to be on this call with the three Ambassadors of UAE, Bahrain and Israel. Discussing the new opportunities for friendship and cooperation as a result of the Abraham Accords”.
