Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei on Monday declared his support for “anyone” fighting against Israel, and pledged to support them by “all possible means”. The statements are seen as a reaffirmation of Iran’s support of regional terror groups against Israel.
Khamenei said on his official English language Twitter account: “We support resistance in Palestine and the region, and take all possible means to support anyone who fights Israel, is against the Zionist regime and supports resistance.”
Using a Twitter hashtag, he declared, “We spare no opportunity to support anyone #FightingTheZionists”.
Monday’s Twitter outburst followed a similar statement from the Ayatollah in July, when he pledged to supporters that Iran would continue to support terror groups in the region, despite the recently announced nuclear agreement with the P5+1.
He had declared: “Whether the deal is approved or disapproved, we will never stop supporting our friends in the region”, including “sincere resistance fighters in Lebanon and Palestine”.
Last year, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei tweeted out a nine-point plan of “key questions about the elimination of Israel”.
