British diplomats were among those who took part in the Mini Mondial football tournament together with children from Jewish, Arab, Palestinian and Israeli backgrounds in Herziliya, Israel on Tuesday.
The sports event, which was hosted by the Peres Center for Peace, saw children from all walks of life in Israel play sports together as one team.
The young players played a series of matches against professional premier league players, ambassadors and diplomats from around the world, and mayors from across Israel. The kids team managed to successfully win all three matches.
Nehemia Peres, the late former Israeli Prime Minister’s son, addressed the children at the sporting event, asking them to “take the values from the field into real life”.
Founded by the ninth President of Israel and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shimon Peres, the Center is Israel’s leading organisation promoting peacebuilding between Israel and its neighbours (particularly between Israelis and Palestinians), as well as between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel.
