CFI Honorary President, Lord Polak CBE, welcomed the UK Government’s support for coexistence projects between Israelis and Palestinians “which lay the foundation for peace”, in the House of Lords this week.
Lord Polak highlighted the work of Israeli charity Save A Child’s Heart (SACH), where he said Israeli doctors and nurses “have provided life-saving surgery for over 2,000 Palestinian children at the Wolfson hospital in Holon, which many Members of your Lordships’ House have visited”.
He asked the Minister, “Does my noble friend agree that the Government should support projects such as this?”
Baroness Stedman-Scott praised the “admirable work” of SACH, and said the UK supports “coexistence work to foster understanding between communities on both sides of the conflict to help support the necessary environment for a just and peaceful two-state solution”.
Lord Polak also welcomed the announcement of HRH the Duke of Cambridge’s upcoming visit to Israel – the “first official royal visit to Israel and a great way to celebrate its 70th anniversary”.
