Speaking to the Jewish Chronicle in Manchester at this year’s Conservative Party Conference, CFI Parliamentary Chairman (Lords) Rt. Hon. The Lord Pickles, praised Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government for being “absolutely solid” in its support for the Jewish state.
Lord Pickles said that Mr Johnson’s government represents “one of the most pro-Israeli administrations we have ever had”.
He continued to raise “legitimate concerns” over the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNWRA) distribution of funds, stating “we do need to see fundamental reform”.
Lord Pickles said that he was hopeful that the pro-Israeli administration would work with CFI to “look at our aid budget” to ensure aid is not misused by the Palestinian Authority and reaches those who need it most.
The Special Envoy for Post-Holocaust Issues emphasised that the immediate priority was the “enormous external threat” posed by a Labour Party led by “someone who is soft on antisemitism”.
