CFI’s Parliamentary Chairmen, Rt. Hon. Stephen Crabb MP and Rt. Hon. The Lord Pickles today wished the Jewish community a Happy Passover in recorded video messages.
Lord Pickles said: “I want to wish you a Happy Passover. In doing so I do recognise that this year it is going to be very different”.
He emphasised: “We’ll be celebrating the event without our elderly relatives without extended family and without friends. But you know, there’s a strength in that and that strength is that by keeping in isolation we’ll keep our relatives safer. We’ll keep our friends safer”.
Lord Pickles sent his best wishes to families across the country and to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Mr Crabb said: “On behalf of the CFI, I’d like to wish all of our friends and supporters in the Jewish community a very safe and happy Passover. This year, Passover is being celebrated in very different circumstances and many people will be sitting down for their Seder tonight without parents, grandparents or wider family around them that they would normally have”.
He underlined: “As you sit down for the Seder tonight and at the end when you sing those words ‘Next Year in Jerusalem’ my own hope and prayer is that those words would come true and that our lives would return to normal as quickly and as smoothly as possible”.
