David Cameron formally resigned as the UK’s Prime Minister today, stating that it had been the “greatest honour of my life to serve our country as Prime Minister”, in his last speech outside Number 10 Downing Street.
Joined by his wife Samantha and his three children as his side, Mr Cameron said: “It’s not been an easy journey and of course we have not got every decision right, but I do believe that today our country is much stronger. Above all it was about turning around the economy and with the deficit cut by two thirds, two and a half million more people in work, and one million more businesses there can be no doubt that our economy is immeasurably stronger”.
Mr Cameron thanked his wife Samantha, his children, and team in Number 10 for their support.
