Minister for the Middle East, Rt. Hon. Alistair Burt MP and Trade Minister Graham Stuart MP highlighted Israel’s technological innovation in answers to written Parliamentary questions last week, bringing attention to the strong trading relationship between the UK and Israel.
Mr Burt said that trade between the UK and Israel is currently at a record high and is “built on decades of cooperation between our two countries across a range of fields such as education, hi-tech research, business, arts and culture”. The Middle East Minister underlined that the “UK is a close friend of Israel and we enjoy an excellent bilateral relationship”.
Both Mr Burt and Mr Stuart praised the UK-Israel Tech Hub, a British Government established non-profit which facilitates partnerships between British companies and Israeli innovators. Over the past five years the Tech Hub has generated deals worth £62 million.
These include the UK-Israel Dangoor Healthcare Initiative, which aims to create a pipeline of digital innovation for the NHS, as well as developments and partnerships in other technology sectors, such as agriculture.
Mr Stuart also praised the “extensive bilateral collaborative medical research between the UK and Israel”. He emphasised the Government’s commitment to strengthening the already strong trading relationship, and said the British Embassy in Tel Aviv is actively promoting trade cooperation between the two countries.
