HRH the Duke of Cambridge has met with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin this afternoon as part of the first ever royal visit to Israel.
Firstly The Prince met and spoke with the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He was greeted at the residence against the backdrop of the Union Jack and the Flag of Israel.
After meeting the Prime Minister the Prince met President Reuven Rivlin at his residence in Jerusalem. The President told Prince William that he was born a British citizen and went to a school on King George Street in Israel.
The Prince showed his enthusiasm to learn more about Israeli culture: “[I’m] looking forward to getting to meet as many Israelis as possible – and understand Israeli history and culture in the next few days.”
The President asked the Prince to send a “message of peace” to President Mahmoud Abbas when the Prince meets with him further in the week. President Reuven Rivlin believes that this is the time for the “first step in the way to understanding”.
