The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Sunday that the country’s Iron Dome missile defence system intercepted a rocket launched by terrorists from Gaza towards the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon.
The Israel Air Force hit Hamas military sites including a Hamas training camp in the north of the Gaza Strip.
The IDF hold Hamas – as rulers of the Gaza Strip – responsible for the attacks. There were no reported injuries in Israel or Gaza.
Earlier, the IDF hit two Hamas military positions following the launch of a drone from Gaza carrying explosives. The drone was concealed in a large mass of balloons and landed in a field in Sdot Negev. Devices have burned more than half the forested land in the area, Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) data showed in October.
The Israel-Gaza border has been relatively quiet since 12th November 2018, when over 460 rockets and missiles were fired into Israel.
