This week, at the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly Session in Strasbourg, CFI Vice-Chairman John Howell OBE MP condemned rising levels of antisemitism and emphasised the importance of Holocaust education.
Speaking in a debate on the Council’s recent report on Jewish cultural heritage, the Conservative MP for Henley underlined the need to “take a stand against antisemitism”.
Mr Howell called on the Parliamentary Assembly to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz next year, highlighting the work of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust in the UK. He praised the charity’s objectives in encouraging children to learn more about the Holocaust and “take action”.
He gave his support to the Council’s report, stressing the need to “keep this culture alive” by helping Jewish communities in the fight against antisemitism.
