Minister for the Middle East, Tobias Ellwood MP, has condemned “all forms” of Palestinian incitement, raising his concerns about inflammatory Facebook posts made by PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party.
The Minister’s comments came in response to a written question from CFI Vice-Chairman John Howell OBE MP, who asked the Foreign Secretary “what reports he has received from UK diplomatic posts of the Fatah Facebook page praising a murderer who killed two Israelis and wounded six on 9 October 2016 as a martyr; and if he will make a statement”.
The Middle East Minister said: “We deplore all forms of incitement, including any comments that could stir up hatred and prejudice, and are aware of Facebook posts related to this attack”.
Minister Ellwood underlined that “the Consulate-General regularly encourages the Fatah leadership to exercise more control over the many Facebook pages associated with the organisation”.
