A year after Operation Protective Edge, during which the IDF destroyed a large part of the tunnel infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, Hamas has released a new propaganda video displaying its rebuilding of the terror tunnels.
The video released by the terror organisation’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigade, shows fighters inside one of the terror tunnels, awaiting the right moment to attack IDF troops. The unit is also seen gathering intelligence and fighting in a built-up area.
Hamas fighters are also seen practising tending to wounded comrades in the tunnels, storming mockups of IDF army posts, ambushing IDF patrols, and pretending to shoot soldiers.

A recent IDF assessment said Hamas’ commando unit is now better trained and equipped with the most advanced equipment.
According to reports, in recent months discussions have been held between Hamas and Israel to establish a long-term ceasefire. The terror organisation’s chief Khaled Mashal reportedly told a news organisation that talks “seemed positive, but we have not reached an agreement yet”.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office, however, said earlier this week that it was not holding any talks with Hamas – direct or indirect.
Earlier this month, Israel’s Channel 10 reported that the IDF had confirmed that “not a small number” of cross-border tunnels have recently been dug by Hamas under the border into Israel, including one in the area of the Kerem Shalom border crossing.
The news comes in light of the fact that Iran has begun to re-start its policy of funding and facilitating Hamas and its military wing. This includes providing cash, military training for Hamas fighters, weaponry and electronic equipment including for the use against drones.
