Palestinian Media Watch reported this week on a recent street interview report by Fatah-run Awdah TV, which showed the majority of Palestinians interviewed expressing their opposition to the participation of children in stabbing attacks against Israelis, and blamed official Palestinian Authority TV for inciting children to commit attacks in the recent wave of violence.
One Palestinian woman included in the broadcast specifically accused PA TV, stating: “I think that the media plays a large role. Especially our TV channels. Even if the incitement is indirect, it is incitement”.
A Palestinian mother featured in the report also condemned the influence of the media in inciting children: “I prevent my children from watching what is happening on TV, I prevent my children from watching. It confuses them, causes them to want to do this”.
Another Palestinian man emphasised “the children need to learn and live their lives, to go to school, to play”.
The moderator summarised the report with a call to end “incitement on TV screens… enough spilling the blood of our children”.

Official Palestinian Authority TV has frequently broadcast programmes aimed at children that glorify violence against Israelis, and in recent months has named several children’s sports tournaments after terrorists that have committed recent attacks.
33 victims have been killed in knife, gun and car-ramming attacks across Israel and the West Bank by Palestinians since the start of October, with at least 370 wounded. More than 170 Palestinians are said to have been killed, the overwhelming majority while carrying out terror attacks, and others during clashes and demonstrations.
