Palestinian rioters along the Gaza border sent fire kites over the fence on Friday, causing three large blazes in nearby Israeli fields, while 100 Palestinians were reported injured in clashes with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
A 21-year-old Palestinian woman volunteering as a paramedic is reported to have died after being shot. The Israeli military said it is investigating the report.
The army said that an IDF vehicle came under gunfire during the riots and that a Palestinian who breached the border fence in northern Gaza planted a grenade that exploded. No Israeli soldiers were injured.
Since the ‘March of Return’ erupted in Gaza on 30th March, more than a 100 Palestinians have been killed in clashes with the IDF at the border.
The protests, which were the culmination of a six-week ‘March of Return’ campaign, were coordinated by the Hamas terror organisation, which is proscribed in the UK.
According to Gaza’s Hamas-controlled Health Ministry, 62 people were killed and 1,300 injured in Monday 14th May’s clashes. The Hamas terror group has confirmed that 50 of the 62 Palestinians killed were Hamas fighters.
The Islamic Jihad terror organisation said three of its members were also killed in the protests, bringing the total number of known members of terror groups among the fatalities up to 53.
