The official daily newspaper of the Palestinian Authority, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, yesterday published a cartoon glorifying rock-throwing attacks (pictured).
The cartoon depicts a Palestinian playing an oud (a stringed instrument), with strings creating a slingshot holding a rock. The piece of music being played is entitled: “Freedom”.
Fatah and PA officials have openly encouraged rock-throwing and violent attacks over the past month. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas recently awarded the Palestine Order of Merit for Culture, Sciences and Arts to Baha Al-Bukhari, a cartoonist who frequently glorifies violence and rock-throwing at Israelis.
Abbas’ Fatah has recently changed its cover photo on its official Facebook page to a photo of a young Palestinian throwing a rock with a slingshot.
Both Fatah and the PA regularly print photos of masked Palestinians in the act of rock-throwing described as “resistance”.
A previous cartoon published in Al-Hayat Al-Jadida showed a Palestinian playing a knife as a violin, glorifying recent stabbing attacks against Israelis.
