Following months of speculation, the Eurovision executive board confirmed on Thursday that it has chosen Tel Aviv to host the 2019 song contest.
In May, Israel’s Netta Barzilai took the Eurovision trophy in front of 20 million viewers worldwide.
The executive board said in a statement on Thursday that the Israeli public broadcaster Kan also put forward the cities of Jerusalem and Eilat as possible venues but it chose Tel Aviv as it “provides the best overall set up for the world’s largest live music event”.
The event will be taking place at the Expo Tel Aviv (International Convention Centre) on Tuesday 14, Thursday 16 and Saturday 18 May 2019.
Israel has won the competition four times – in 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018.
