Israel was attacked early this morning, as terrorists based in the Gaza Strip fired a volley of six rockets at communities in the country’s south.
The attack triggered sirens in communities near the Gaza border and came after the Israel Defense Forces’ initial bombing raid against Hamas facilities in Gaza in response to the incendiary and explosive devices launched across the border into Israel throughout yesterday.
Hundreds of residents in southern Israel rushed to bomb shelters as a result of the attack.
In response, the IDF said its warplanes and other aircraft bombed Hamas sites in the Palestinian enclave, including a weapons manufacturing facility. Palestinian media reported that the target was located near Gaza City.
Throughout Thursday, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza launched dozens of balloons carrying arson devices and small explosives across the border, causing at least 26 fires in southern Israel, according to the fire department.
The latest exchange comes amid weeks of escalating tensions between Israel and terrorist organisations in the Strip.
