Rabbi Lionel Rosenfeld of Western Marble Arch Synagogue on Wednesday interviewed CFI Honorary President Lord Polak CBE on UK-Israel relations and his 25-year career at CFI, where he led more than 150 political delegations to Israel.

Speaking about shared experiences on CFI parliamentary delegations,  Lord Polak recounted a memorable visit to the country with Boris Johnson and George Osborne in 2004, during which a teenage Palestinian suicide bombing took place at Carmel Market in Tel Aviv. Three people were killed in the attack and 30 were injured.

Lord Polak also spoke about the new Labour Party leadership, and prospects towards a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.

He underlined that the “relationship between the UK and Israel is so strong” today, adding that you “only need to look at figures of UK-Israel trade”.
