In Parliament on Tuesday, diplomats from Israel, the UAE and Bahrain joined cross-party MPs and Lords in celebrating the first anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords and the launch of the UK Abraham Accords Group.

A year on from the landmark peace agreements, former UAE Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash told MPs and Peers that the UK has “an important role” in advancing the aims of the Accords.

Israeli Ambassador H.E. Tzipi Hotovely hailed the growing ties between Israel and her Gulf neighbours in her address and expressed concerns over Iran’s regional aggression. “The importance of an alliance of all moderates has never been greater”, she said.

Bahrain’s Deputy Ambassador Farhad Binali also spoke at the event, which was hosted by UK Abraham Accords Group Chair Rt. Hon. Dr Liam Fox MP and CFI Honorary President Lord Polak CBE.

In his speech, Middle East Minister James Cleverly told attendees that the UK is committed to promoting ties between Israel and Arab countries. “I hope this will continue to expand between Israel and other countries in the Arab world. We can all reap the benefits from this, socially or economically”, Minister Cleverly said.
