Home Secretary Priti Patel welcomed Ambassador of Israel H.E. Tzipi Hotovely to the Home Office this week, where the pair celebrated the “enduring strength” of UK-Israel ties.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said in a tweet on Tuesday: “It was a real pleasure to welcome Tzipi Hotovely to the Home Office today. We discussed the enduring strength of the UK-Israel relationship and my commitment to protecting our Jewish communities across the country from vile antisemitic abuse”.

Ambassador Hotovely underlined in response: Thank you Home Secretary Priti Patel for our very warm meeting, it was a real pleasure to discuss these issues with you. I look forward to continuing to strengthen our UK-Israeli relations”.

Last month, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Israel’s Foreign Minister Yair Lapid signed a joint memorandum of understanding to elevate the UK-Israel relationship to a Strategic Partnership. In an “historic” 10 year plan, the new agreement repeats a pledge Foreign Secretary Truss made in her speech at CFI’s Conservative Party Conference reception for closer cooperation cybersecurity, technology, defence, trade and science.

The two counterparts confirmed that talks on a Free Trade Agreement are also set to continue early next year.
