Israel has imposed a 10-day ban on non-Israeli arrivals from the UK as cases surge in the country.
The UK was added to Israel’s high-risk countries list on Friday after new Covid-19 regulations were approved on Thursday.
Under the new rules, which are valid until 9th August, people travelling from the UK will be denied entry to Israel unless they are under-18 and have Israeli parents, serve in the IDF or hold valid visas. Israelis will be required to self-isolate for seven days upon arrival to Israel even if fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19.
Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett this week also confirmed that Israel will offer a third dose of Covid vaccines to people aged over 60. Those who received their second jab at least five months ago will be eligible for a Pfizer booster from Sunday. President Isaac Herzog, who turns 61 in September, was the first to get the booster today. This comes amid a surge in infections in Israel and concerns about the highly contagious Delta variant.
