Minister for the Middle East hails strong UK-Israel ties at Israel Independence Day reception

Tobias 1Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood, the Ambassador of Israel and over 1,200 friends and supporters celebrated Israel’s 68th Independence Day at the Embassy of Israel’s reception.

Addressing the packed room of supporters, Minister for the Middle East, Tobias Ellwood MP, hailed the strong ties between between the UK and Israel. He said: “I don’t have to repeat the importance of the relationship, and it is reflected in the number of senior visits going between our two countries, from our Prime Minister to the Foreign Secretary; from Cabinet members visiting to the Mayor of London and indeed many members of Parliament visits as well, and in turn your country has responded”.

Ambassador of Israel, H.E. Mark Regev, welcomed the guests, saying, “I’m glad to report that cooperation between our two countries continues to accelerate rapidly. Cooperation between Israel and UK makes both our peoples more prosperous and more secure”.

He concluded his speech by stating: “With energy, vitality and a touch of chutzpah, Israel embraces the hope of our next 68 years”.  The full text of his speech can be read here.
